Collegiately Decorated Coach, Brittany Smith, Named Head Coach OF NorthPointe Christian Girls Varsity Volleyball

Grand Rapids, MI – NorthPointe Christian Schools is excited to announce Brittany Smith as Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach. After serving the NPC Volleyball program in various roles, most recently as JV Coach, Smith will take the helm of the Varsity program. “We are blessed to have been provided with a distinguished, proven coach who has such a heart for the NorthPointe Christian community and our mission,” said Director of Athletics, Drew Losee. “We cannot wait to see her lead the growth of our girls competitively and spiritually.” Coach Smith brings a wealth of experience to the position. She served as the Head Coach at Taylor University for eight seasons, where she led the Trojans to three NAIA National Tournament appearances, five league championships, and six consecutive 30-win seasons. She was named Crossroads League Coach of the Year three times. In her 4 years as Head Coach at Wheaton College, the Thunder had their best league finish since 1990. Over 12 seasons as a collegiate head coach, she compiled a stellar 301-160 record. A former standout athlete at Grand Rapids Christian, Brittany continued her playing career as a four-year starter at Taylor. She earned NAIA First Team All-American honors in 1998 and Second Team All-American honors in 1999. She was named Taylor’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 99-00 and was inducted into the Taylor University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. “I am absolutely thrilled to accept this position,” said Brittany Smith. “The young women in our program love the Lord and their teammates and are very motivated to pursue competitive excellence every day. I’m looking forward to bringing a high level of training with a focus on servant leadership, and to continue to help our players use their athletic gifts to glorify God in all we do.” Coach Smith and her husband Eric reside in Belmont and are parents to Jack, Audrey, Will, and Ethan. They attend Frontline Community Church.
